An der Werkgruppe der “Körperstücke”habe ich von Januar 1984 an gearbeitet. Diese Arbeit hatte sich im Laufe des Jahres 1983 bei der Suche nach bildnerischen Möglichkeiten mit dem Bildnis von anderen Personen entwickelt und war eine Antwort auf die Frage nach höherer Authentizität in diesen Werken. Sollte ein Darsteller diese Rolle verkörpern oder ich selbst als der Protagonist in meinen Arbeiten erscheinen? Ich entschied mich für Letzteres und die Arbeit mit dem “Selbstbild” als die authentischere Möglichkeit. Die in diesem Zeitraum entstandenen Werke waren eine Form von Performance für das Auge der Kamera. Mit dem entstandenen Bildmaterial arbeitete ich anschliessend an ein- und mehrteiligen Kompositionen. Portraits von Freunden und Künstlerkollegen habe ich von diesem Zeitpunkt an parallel zu diesen Arbeiten weitergeführt.

I began working on the “Body Pieces” series in January 1984. This work had developed over the course of 1983 while searching for artistic possibilities using the likenesses of other people, and was a response to the question of greater authenticity in these works. Should an actor embody this role, or should I myself appear as the protagonist in my works? I decided on the latter and working with the “self-image” as the more authentic option. The works created during this period were a form of performance for the camera’s eye. I then worked on single and multi-part compositions using the resulting image material. From this point on, I continued to create portraits of friends and fellow artists in parallel with these works.
