Portraits/Bildnisse
Um 1982 herum, gerade angekommen in Berlin, im Osten der geteilten Stadt, Anfang der 80er Jahre, begann ich mich dem neuen Ort zu näheren, indem ich anfing, die Menschen um mich herum, Freunde und Künstlerkollegen zu fotografieren. Das war eine Phase des Experimentierens mit Fotografie und ein Suchen und Befragen des Mediums nach dem Potential, welches Portraits für meine Arbeit haben könnten.
Around 1982, having just arrived in Berlin, in the eastern part of the divided city, at the beginning of the 1980s, I began to familiarize myself with my new surroundings by photographing the people around me, friends, and fellow artists. It was a period of experimentation with photography, of searching and questioning the medium to discover the potential that portraits could have for my work.
